About The Surveillance Camera Commissioner Code of Practice

IQ Verify is one of only three businesses qualified by the Surveillance Camera Commissioner (SCC) to undertake these audits. To achieve the certification for this code of practice you must be audited by a UKAS accredited third party certification body.

Is This For You?

The surveillance camera code of practice applies to the use of surveillance camera systems operating in public places, regardless of whether they are being viewed live or being recorded.

It is available for any organisation that operates surveillance in a public space and the audit can also be undertaken by any non-regulated authorities.

Attaining the certification mark from the SCC will help to raise standards in the industry and enable organisations to demonstrate their commitment to balancing public safety with privacy.

What You Need To Do

To assess whether your business complies with the 12 guiding principles of the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice you can use the self-assessment tool

When you feel that your business is ready, you can then be audited by IQ Verify, with a view of attaining the certificate and certification mark issued by the SCC

Taking Your Certification Further

By achieving the SCC code of practice your organisation will have already achieved some of the components of the recognised British Standard BS7958:2015. If you wish to further demonstrate how your surveillance system is in line with good practice, we are able to identify the gaps your organisation may have to achieve BS7958:2015 so you can fully prepare.
