The University of Worcester have achieved third party certification through IQ Verify against the Surveillance Camera Commissioner's certification scheme for its use of CCTV systems across the University Campus.

Thomas Taylor said “The University has a pro-active approach to ensuring good student/community relations. We work very closely with the local community and local beat officers, as well having two Police and Community Support Officers based at the University, and have a very successful University Community Forum, which has been running since 2003. This accreditation strengthens that work further and gives us the ability when necessary to deal with any incidents swiftly and appropriately”.

Certification against this scheme allows for organisations such as the University, to demonstrate they are using their CCTV systems in line with best practice.

Mark Salt, Director of IQ Verify said “It’s important in today’s society that any monitoring of people is carried out in an acceptable manner, achieving certification to the Surveillance Camera Commissioners Code of Conduct demonstrates that the University of Worcester are ensuring they comply with all aspects of the Code of Conduct and current best practices developed for the security industry, this can only enhance their students experience while studying at the university and confirms that the university offers them a safer environment for their learning ”.

The Surveillance Camera Commissioner, recently launched their buyers toolkit to assist organisations and non-experts with integrating surveillance systems.
